EDGE ESL

Overview

The EDGE ESL English Language Training Program is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). We are a part-time Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program, that provides English classes to newcomer adults who are Permanent Residents or CUAET Visa holders. It is designed to help adults improve their English in the skill areas of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in order to successfully settle into Canadian society.



Program Description

  • ESL classes follow the Canadian Language Benchmark and PBLA Guidelines and Requirements
  • Newcomers learn the language needed for successful settlement in Canada
  • Ideal for newcomers adults with preschool-age children and for those who are working part-time or shift work and cannot attend full-time English classes
  • Care for Newcomer Children is available for children between the ages of 19 months and 5 yearson as needed basis
  • The program follows the school calendar and runs from mid-September to mid-June with a three week break in December and one week in the spring
  • Class levels range from CLB 1L – CLB 6


Schedule:

Morning classes:
Monday to Friday, 9:00am-11:30am

  • CLB 3-4
  • CLB 4-5
  • CLB 5-6


Afternoon Classes:
Monday to Friday,12:30- 3:00pm

  • CLB 1-2L (Mon-Thur)
  • CLB 2-3L
  • CLB 2-3


Eligible participants:

  • PERMANENT RESIDENTS AND CUAET VISA HOLDERS
  • Newcomers to Canada
  • Reside or work in the St. Vital and St Boniface areas
  • Available for part-time day classes five days per week
